When Disgusting Smells taste Good

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

I'm feeling a little tiny bit better except my neck was not a happy camper this morning and woke me at 4:00. Other than my neck, I'm doing better.

Last night's dinner was veggie burgers. A new recipe for me. This one was ground walnuts, old fashioned oats, tons of mushrooms, onions and spinach. Now my family HATES mushrooms. So I cooked them in secret. I was almost found out when my husband smelled them cooking and came in and asked "What is that disGUSTING smell??" I told him it was onions. (which was partially true). I had bought a contraption from Dr. Fuhrman's website that chops veggies. It either cuts them in small pieces or in tiny pieces dependiing on what blade you put in. For the mushrooms, I used the "tiny" size and that was good because it kept my family from recognizing the mushrooms. This recipe held together well (which if you've ever made veggie burgers, you'll know is a challenge)....And we ate them with romaine lettuce and a slice of tomato in a half a pita. It was delicious and got rave reviews from my family. (snigger snigger...if only they knew what they were eating!!!)

today I think I'm gonna make cream of broccoli soup. I have to go to Prayer meeting so it's a good thing to make. I can make it early and then just heat it up.

I was going to exercise today but at the moment am not feeling extremely motivated. I need to get into the shower so if I'm gonna exercise I need to do it NOW before my shower. Well, maybe I'll ride the recumbent bike for a few minutes. But honestly my butt is feeling very comfy in this chair....it will take some talking to get it up and moving. Maybe after I post this I will go to Spark's motivational pages and see if I can dig up some motivation there.

I hope you all have a great day. Get up and get moving!! (see I'm talking to myself here as much as to you!)

Spark Recipes are good at sneaking in ingredients that people don't like, good for you finding a way to make a burger that stuck together!! Those sound absolutely out of this world! Yummy! Makes me wish I could almost cook, NOT lol. But I will get at soups since my blender should make this easy for me to cope with. I am not good at chopping and mincing, etc. When I want veggies that are hard to cut, my poor Mom does the duties for me. I can't cut round anything because my two little claw fingers can't hold them steady, which is a bummer because I love onions to spice things up.
    Enjoy your meeting and soup!
    Keep up the great work!
