This morning I wanted a change from my usual smoothie so I used the protein smoothie recipe from the Eating Clean Cookbook. It was delicious, just took a little longer to make because it has lots of ingredients. It's one of those things that TASTES healthy (in a good way) and I felt more equipped to face my day once I'd drunk it.

Then. Exercise. I put on my workout clothes and did the core workout on the FIt Firm and Fired Up DVD followed by 10 high speed minutes on the recumbent bike. I didn't have my music or a dvd to watch so ten minutes was all I could stand to do on the bike. I really should just have gone upstairs for my iPod. Maybe I'll do some more later or maybe I'll go for a walk if my daughter is up for it. She may not be as yesterday she wasn't feeling good.

I should go and put together a pot of chili in the slow cooker. Think I will do that. My DH was talking longingly of the chili I used to make. I should definitely make a pot today. Especially since I am not getting my groceries until tomorrow and am limited in ingredients.

My shoulder is really hurting today. Now that I've decided to get it fixed it will be hard to wait these last few months of pain. Oh well that will just make me glad to get it done and will make the pain of the surgery easier to endure. I know when I had my hip surgery, just to have the pain of the bad joint gone was such a relief that the surgical pain seemed like nothing (that is , after the first night out of the OR....that first night is gonna be hell no matter what you do).

We may have an element burned out of our hot water heater....we shall see. The water got cold on my husband in his shower last night. I will have to go now and check it out and make sure it is okay.

    I absolutely love chili, and Mom makes it awesome, with no two batches alike as she experiments with different ingredients and spicing (as long as its mild step dad doesn't notice ;P)
    I only had one surgery where the actual surgery was worse than the pain I was getting before and that was when they straightened my dislocated toes and put pins in them -that was the pain from hell and it lasted three days with no medicine being able to ease it. All my joint replacements it was like oh man I can't believe I can actually put weight on it, or move it without it screaming. The difference was night and day. until, of course, the physio started :P
    Sorry to hear about the hot water :( I have suffered through more than one cold shower in this building and hate it!!

    Your protein smoothie sounds good - and the chili sounds divine! Happy eating!

    I'll be praying that you can "hold out" with that shoulder pain until your surgery.

    I'm so glad that you could think up a yummy, healthy, different breakfast. I seem to get by with Cheerios and skim milk every morning, but I do love it and this morning I added half of a banana. emoticon I'm so glad too that you're feeling alot more positive towards your shoulder surgery. That will help with the over all sugery and recovery. They say that a positive attitude is so much more healing, etc. That sure was evident with my dear Mama. Take care and keep doing what you're doing in the eating and exercise program and you'll be seeing more and more successes. emoticon to Cynthia!!
