I had one of those moments last Saturday. One of those moments when you ask yourself if you have taken the right path in life. (Yes, I took the right path, but the hubby and kiddos are making me a little crazy.)
Since I got hurt (fractured my leg and tore my meniscus April 10th), I have pretty much been sitting around doing nothing. I go back to the doctor on June 20th and will have surgery the following week. I will be stuck sitting around for several weeks while I recover.
I am savouring each day until I have surgery and am up and about (even though I use a walker).
My family however does not appreciate what mobility means to me. I do not want to take a nap. I do not want to sleep late. I do not want to do nothing. I have 2-5 weeks of doing NOTHING on the horizon. I GOTTA GO WHILE THE GETTING IS GOOD!
Saturday I decided to go to a cajun restaurant and do some shopping about 40 miles away from where I live. Announced I was leaving in 1 1/2 hours IF the family wanted to come with me. After much whining and mumbling all five of us were in the car. The food was great. The farmer's market and nursery were plentiful. Stopped at an antique store....did not stay long....walkers and antique stores do not mix. The whole time there was at least one person whining.
Sunday was a family reunion. More whining. I hated family reunions as a kid, but as I grow older they seem to become very important. I was very disappointed in my crew. We got there at 11:30 and left at 2:00. You would have thought I had made them stay for a week. That was the last straw.
I dropped the hubby and kids off and headed to the nail salon. I had a lovely pedicure...BY MYSELF. I drove out to the lake and ate a snow cone BY MYSELF. I decided to watch something new BY MYSELF on tv. I found the new adventures of DR. WHO....oh my gosh, they are awesome. I am starting the third season today. Unfortunately, the others have join in the watching.
They like it, too. I wish I had a TARDIS...I wonder where I would go??????
I dropped middle kid off for a week long camp on Monday. Youngest daughter is going to a church camp at night from 6:00-9:00. If I am not watching Dr. Who, I am READING...yes READING.
Today I went to get a facial. It was awesome. I had signed up for it on Sunday and almost backed out. It was so relaxing. I think I will sign up for another one after my surgery. I also made an appointment to get my hair cut and colored. My gray is showing terribly.
There is an air show about 45 miles away on Saturday. I have never been to an air show. Groupon has the tickets for $5. I asked the family if they wanted to go....Hubby said it was too hot. Kids said boring. I am going to miss them on Saturday while I am at the air show.
Next week all three kids will be gone. I have not decided what I will do. Tuesday and Wednesday I have two inservice days with the girls at work...that will be fun. Thursday I go to the doctor in the morning. I know I want to see a movie and maybe go to a water aerobics class. What else should I do???
