The next step

I have been reading the book "weight loss surgery for dummies" & thinking a lot a about the surgery. They have set the date for the next step on this journey. In a week & 1/2 I will be going for the blood test & the second appointment. I believe this one will be more of an individual assessment, The last was a group information session.
In addition to this I have discovered that hemochromatosis runs in my family this is blood disease that causes you to have too much iron in your blood. if you have it they have to take blood every so often to lower your iron levels & keep you blood from poisoning your organs. I was worried that they may decide that this could exclude me from the surgery. So I started to search the internet and see if any one with a family history of this disease or who has the disease has ever had weight loss surgery & how this effected the surgery. I was surprised to find that in many of the cases were a person had hemochromatosis before the surgery they no longer had to have blood taken regularly to control the iron. The most important thing tat this means to me is that it will not automatically exclude me from the surgery, of course this is something I will have to discuss this with my health care providers before I will know anything for sure but this sounds hopeful.
