Hello July. I'm sorry that I've been mostly MIA for the last few months, they have been very hectic! I feel extra bad that I haven't contributed much to my 5% Challenge team, but bygones are bygones. I strayed from tracking and checking in here and I let life take over my new habits and watched mostly my eating revert to my old habits and lo and behold, I have put weight on. I waited to really start getting back into SP publicly until I had a handle on myself (while using the tools behind the scenes to help myself!). Two weeks ago I managed one good day of eating/exercising, last week I managed three, this week I'm ready to really get back in the swing of making five or more days count.
What threw me off track so badly? First of all, I made my last (first) 5% Challenge goal. I was feeling pretty darn good about myself, so of course I relaxed a little after two months of being pretty strict with my choices. I also had a vacation to Mexico at the end of the challenge, so I went a little crazy in enjoying that (hopefully pictures tonight!) Then when I got back we started house hunting which was far more stressful than expected. We looked at 40 houses and put in offers on five before one was accepted. It's been a whirlwind month of inspections and decisions but we are looking to close on Friday July 5th!! SOOOOO excited. Right after that offer was accepted, the boyfriend and I went to a huge camping festival (another time to let loose and not be on track), then the next week I went to NYC for business and had no real control over food/exercise (I know, I could have done better) and then my boot camp trainers went on vacation for a week.... which all leads me to here!!
All of those things could have been managed much better by me, but with keeping active and taking steps over the last two weeks to get a hold on my nutrition, I am only up three pounds from the end of the last challenge. I fully plan on losing those three pounds this month, even with all of the stress and craziness that will be July for me. For exercising, I will have boot camp three mornings a week and I WILL NOT SKIP/MISS ANY!! Period. This means I need to be careful about getting to bed on time. I will also be running at least three days a week in preparation for my first marathon in October. For food, I am just going to have to be good at planning ahead and having everything prepped so that I can eat at home as often as possible. This was my biggest mistake over the last two months, I started eating out a lot for convenience. I bought a groupon for Supper Solutions and used it last week so we have at least 8 meals in the freezer. The experience reminded me of how little time/effort it takes to prepare meals ahead of time so that you just pop them in the oven. Planning is the name of the game here.
I'm really excited for the next month because we will be doing lots of things to move into our new home! We need to clean EVERYTHING in the new home because it was a foreclosure. The place wasn't trashed, but it wasn't cleaned either. We're also replacing all of the basement flooring, repainting almost everything and taking out a dysfunctional above ground pool. There are also tons of small projects to be done in addition to packing and moving out of our current place. So much work but should be so rewarding in the end! I'll try to do a whole "house post" with pictures after we close on Friday.
