Spark Motivator

Sunday, July 21, 2013

I earned my Spark Motivator badge 4 years ago...roughly. I seriously considered deleting my page and starting a new one. It has been a year since i have been active and I am now 2 pounds away from reaching 180 pounds. A weight that I said I was never going to reach again. And now I sit 2 pounds...2 small pounds away.

I have tried to do it on my own and I can't. I took a hard long look at my past and analyzed what worked for me. I lost 42 pounds the first time with Sparkpeople, a core group of amazing group and friends on here that helped me reach my goal. Not only my wight goal but my goal of completing several 5k's.

To keep my Spark Motivator or start over...I opted to keep it. To serve as a reminder of all my hard work. To serve as a reminder that I can do it! I have lost the weight once. I can do anything that I put my mind to!

Here is to a new start!

Oh and looking for motivating and supportive friends! emoticon

I'm so glad that you kept your Spark page. Many of us have regained weight through various things. For me, my beloved eldest son was diagnosed with a massive brain tumor in May 2011. The brain tumor was on his brain stem which meant that his automatic reflexes were affected (breathing, consciousness, blood pressure). After three months of sitting on my butt in the ICU unit, and another 11 months sitting on my butt while he tried to recover in a ward in two different hospitals I am at my highest weight ever....but I KNOW that I will lose this weight.

My son is still in a wheelchair, still unable to swallow - but he works hard trying to stand and walk every day, his speech is improving and he is working on his swallowing. He has a great attitude and has successfully completed his first year in the neuroscience program in the university where he holds two other undergraduate science degrees using only a letterboard which others type or translate for him. He is an inspiration to me, and hopefully to you as well. With all he has overcome, I am confident that both you and I can lose the weight that we have regained.

Keep in touch. I've missed you and your wonderful family.

You can do it! I have been here for 7 years now, and I think it helps to new members to see people who have been on Spark long term. Even if you have had set backs, people can see you are not giving up and can overcome them.

So happy to see you! I've come and gone from sparkpeople several times and always seem to gain when I'm away. This time, I joined the At Goal and Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance team. It has been a great way to stay active on SP and keep the weight off.

What a great attitude! I love that you kept the Spark Motivator as reminder that you can do it, but also, it reminds you of all the other people who were touched by your story and that you motivated. Sign me up to be a supportive friend! emoticon
