A REALLY hard time!!!

I am having one hell of a time trying to get back on track. I really really can't keep my cal counts below 1500. I feel like I am starving throughout the day and eating high protein makes me more hungry. I don't know what's going on with me! I quit smoking a week ago and I'm doing good there but I can't do this with food. Someone give me some tips or something. I'm ready to pull my hair out!!!

    Are you drinking lots of water? Eating snacks to keep your blood sugar stable? Eating protein with all carbs? Eating low glycemic fruits and veggies?

    i understand all too well these cravings. i have found weekends to be the toughest. but.. as the other posters have said, and advice that i will also take; put together low carb snacks that you can just grab. i wish you much success with quitting smoking too. two very big items to tackle, but you can definitely do it! :) emoticon

    watching calories and quit smoking... that is a big one. i would suggest a hunger journal. i tend to eat a lot when i am not hungry but i am bored or think i am. if i take a few minutes to thinnk or write about i generally realize i am bored, annoyed or feeling overwhelmed. then i realize a snack will not help.

    I've been avoiding low carb but I know its the way to go. I just couldn't keep a handle on myself at all. I tried drinking water, and tea, but nothing. I wanted to eat eat eat. I guess its a sign that bacon is on sale this week. Thank you everyone!

    When I am hungry, I make sure that I have low cal good snacks available easily and then eat them. Also, I plan 3 or 4 breakfasts that are the right calorie amount, write it down, post it where I can see it and them commit to the list. I find it is hard to do the whole thing when I am having trouble. Don't give up though.

    Yeah, I would say EXOTEC hit the nail on the head. I have cravings/hunger when any meal goes over 30g carbs or so. Certain specific foods set it off as well. Try the lower carb breakfast option and see how it works. Don't be afraid of fat. If you want to stay away from animal fats there are still always avocados, macadamias, and coconut oil to fall back on.

    From a brief excursion through your recent Nutrition Tracker, I'd say your carb intake is driving your hunger. When I get up above 100g, I'm always starving, too. Yours have been closer to 200, the days I checked.

    You start your day with cereal, and it's all downhill from there, because those carbs are fueling that hunger. Can you change to a different breakfast food? maybe some eggs and bacon? even hard-boiled eggs, if you're pressed for time. And I see you eat a fair amount of fruit... that's good food, but see how the sugars drive your carbs up.

    Just some observations. YMMV.
