My poor little cat

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Yesterday, I took my cat to the vet and warned them she was very skittish, and also she was hissing at them. Well, don't know how it happened, but she bit and scratched one of their techs. Apparently, the girl tried to pick her up, after the vet said she would get her carrier. Anyway, she is now in quarantine for 10 days. I feel so bad and am worried that she will be a different cat after having to stay somewhere without getting out. It breaks my heart, and I'm a little angry at the tech for being stupid. You would think that she would have been a little more careful. Oh well, it is what it is.

I have 2 myself and one is a nightmare at the vet. They used to have to bring out these heavy duty, up to their elbows gloves to even take her out of the box. Now I drop her off in her carrier and they knock her out for her visit. That might work better for her in the future if they will do it. And yes, the tech should have known better. Poor kitty.

She wasn't current with her rabies. I know that is my fault, but she is an indoor cat and never goes out. Anyway, she should've been muzzled and I don't know why they didn't. They saw how scared she was and I told them.

Oh my. Sorry to hear about this. My vet will muzzle if he thinks it is an issue. Poor kitty!! If kitty had a rabvies vaccination current it shouldn't have been a problem. was this a new vet that didn't know kitty's history? I once had to quarantine my dog for 10 days and it was miserable. I felt terrilbe. A kid goaded my dog into biting him on the leg and the dog got punished.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. The tech should have been more careful but maybe she was just trying to be helpful. I also think in my states it's a law to quarantine an animal that has bitten/scratched someone. Will you be able to go in and see her? That might make her feel better.
