Ups and Downs of the Health Journey

How did you weather the ups and downs of your health journey?
I have gained and lost in a repeated cycle over the years. After working hard for a year, 1 year ago I reached my "goal weight". I've since adjusted a bit to work to find ways to maintain. Trying to maintain has been a challenge and I work to tweak things constantly.
The downs have included typical negative self talk, doctor lectures, low energy, depression, and low self-esteem.
The ups are new clothes, new muscle tone, stress and depression reduced by exercise and healthy diet, and more energy and enthusiasm.
Every day and week through the journey does have its ups and downs.
I have found that to feel my best I need to exercise 5-6 days a week in the morning. I have learned to listen to my body better and adjust my schedule for non-typical soreness, or days I need a boost (I do my favorites!!!), or days I need mindless (treadmill with TV), or a challenge (C25K).
I'm constantly adjusting food and nutrition. I know I don't feel as well if I have a day with less freggies. I know I don't feel as well after a meal/food that has high salt. I've tried to eliminate the guilt cycle of splurge/guilt and plan for my splurges. Tracking works best for me in cycles so I don't overfocus.
This is a lifelong journey to health. I'm looking forward to more ups than downs (except the scale!!).
