Hi Sparkfriends! It's been so long since I did anything or tracked anything on this website that I'm not even sure anyone will follow read my blog anymore. But I wanted to give an update.
Back in October 2012, I talked about doing the Couch to 5K running program with my husband as a support system. I did in fact finish the entire program. Yay me!! It's been so long since that time that I can't even remember how I fell off the wagon or why. I think that it was so cold out that I didn't want to do a race and I didn't feel prepared for it and then my legs and knees had been giving me a lot of problems so I decided to take a break.
Early in 2013 I started taking a Zumba class taught by my friend Marie. It was twice a week and we had a blast. But eventually, she was traveling too far and there wasn't enough attendance for her to keep having the class and so it ended. I was soooo sad. I definitely know that when I take up exercise again, I want Zumba to be involved in someway.
I also ended up taking a cardio/ST class once a week, taught by my former personal trainer. The class lasted seven weeks and when it was time to sign up for the next session, I found out... THAT I'M PREGNANT!
A lot had been going on in our lives at that time. I had a part-time job at a bank, my husband was working a lot of hours, and we were working toward getting our foster care and adoption license through the state of Wisconsin. The whole baby thing was a complete shock, but still happy news.
So, where do things stand for me right now? I started out my pregnancy at 300 pounds. I was very sad to start out at my heaviest weight, but I was determined not to gain very much. I'm now 7 1/2 months pregnant and I have gained 8 pounds. My feet and ankles are a bit swollen so I do believe some of that is water weight, which is very typical for me toward the end of my pregnancies. My doctor is very supportive and proud of how I've managed my weight in my pregnancy. I gained 65 pounds in my first pregnancy, only 20 pounds in my second pregnancy, and 52 pounds in my third pregnancy. I never did lose the baby weight from my third pregnancy.
In addition to having a 13-year-old, an 11-year-old, a three-year-old, and being pregnant, we also have a five-month-old foster son. There is a chance that we may be able to adopt him as well, and so life is like a crazy roller coaster right now. When our baby girl, yes GIRL!, is born we will have five children and a packed-out minivan!
Being self-controlled and using moderation in my pregnancy has really made me want to carry it on after my pregnancy as well. I am soooo ready to be healthy!
So, baby girl Simone will, more than likely, be born by C-section on February 28, 2014. So that means in March, I need to start focusing on losing whatever baby weight I still have and figuring out small ways to get exercise in even having five children. My brother is getting married April 5th and my dress is going to be measured and made in late March so that's a little bit of a goal to shoot for. I will wait to see what my total weight is at the end of my pregnancy before I set an actual weight loss goal.
The next few months are going to be a crazy ride, but I'm up for the challenge.
