Wonder. Moderation. Truth. Courage. Justice. Wisdom. Beauty.
The 7 Virtues perfume company was founded by Barb Stegemann of Nova Scotia, Canada. The idea is to provide meaningful opportunities for entrepreneurship in third world countries. Afghanistan. Haiti. Iran. By paying fair prices for essential oils harvested by local people.
An alternative to the opium trade? The Noble Rose of Afghanistan. Rose petals with clove, peppercorn. And some carnation.
A chance to rebuild after the 2010 earthquake? Vetiver of Haiti. Lime, bergamot, amber.
There's Middle East Peace: sweetie pomolo-grapefruit from Israel with lime and basil from Iran and a touch of cedar.
And Afghanistan Orange Blossom, with freesia and jasmine.
The perfumes are vegan. They smell glorious.
OK, I'm a girly girl. I love indulgence that doesn't involve calories. I love perfume. And I love wearing something complex, layered, subtle, unusual. I've acquired two of these great fragrances, both as gifts: the Noble Rose which I particularly enjoyed during the warmer summer months, and now the Vetiver, which is warm and spicy for winter wear.
The website has a lot of fascinating info about this Canadian business venture -- to which I have no connection at all, personally, whatsoever.
But if a new perfume for yourself or someone else is in your future, and you like the idea of combining a luxury purchase with some meaningful philanthropy, 7 Virtues may be something you want to consider.
Socially responsible perfume. It smells good!
