Weight Went Up Again and Poetry

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

I weighed myself and i gained another pound; cannot do any exercise until my wrist heals. This writers group I am in cannot seem to understand that all poetry or wrting is not upbeat or happy. Poetry is about expressing your feelings and that includes feelings of sadness or anger worry and despair. Look at the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe and see how dark he wrote. Or even in the bible when David cried out to God he was not happy all the time. I cannot at this time write something i do not feel.
Hear the cry of my heart Oh God
Send down your mercy
Mete out your justice
Come down in the clouds
Let them tremble before you
Right the wrongs Oh God
My heart is broken
My soul is torn
Come swiftly and help
This is how i feel now. Like that old song called "Gloom and Despair"; where the singers talk about deep dark depression and excessive misery and bad luck. That is my circumstances right now and i can only be true to myself.

Yes, you CAN exercise, as I learned when challenged after major surgery and long recovery. Here are a few ideas. Anything you can do will make you feel better.

    1. Set timer and walk around and around the house
    2. Put on some music and march or dance with feet only
    3. Calf raises
    4. Leg lifts
    5. Sideways twists
    6. Seated marching - make a long list and think about what you CAN do

Yeah, it'll be different for awhile, but any motion is better than none. emoticon

I know it seems impossible with all the setbacks you've been facing but I know you can keep going. These hard times only make us stronger. emoticon

I'm so sorry your wrist is still not well. And as for your comments about poetry - RIGHT ON! I love David's Psalms - he so often expresses my feelings of being down, being picked on or ignored and whatever. Have you noticed, though, that often his psalm starts off on the 'down' or negative note but ends up praising God? No, I'm not saying all our poetry should be like that. It's just that I've noticed David often wrote that way. How encouraging.

I pray you will bare up under the circumstances, and that God will refresh your soul.
