Shoveling in the arctic blast

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

No, that's not our car, thank goodness! But it happened near here. Two days ago, there were 200 car accidents and 400 motorists calling for help to the Michigan police. It's fierce out there!

Just came inside after inhaling a lot of arctic air! I was attempting to clear our back deck of snow that comes almost to my waist. Great exercise! It takes a lot of effort to keep our driveway open, so the deck has been neglected. But I'm hearing stories about people's decks collapsing under the weight of all the pretty, white stuff. So I thought I'd better get out there.

As I glanced up and down our sub-division, I realized that a lot of ladies look like fashion-plate snow bunnies, while I tend to shovel in my thrift store bag lady look. LOL.

This is going to be our second day with no mail delivery---the mailman can't get through the drifts in our subdivision. For some reason, we seem to be the last neighborhood to get plowed. Just yesterday, our next door neighbor got his 4 wheel drive truck stuck about a block from home.

We do have heat and plenty of food. Thankful! Feeling sorry for the road workers who are working round the clock in this arctic blast.

Luckily we didn't get much snow, just the arctic air. Stay safe and warm! Glad you don't have to go anywhere for a while.

We were lucky only have about 3 inches of snow in my area, and our wind chill warning was downgraded a little while ago to an advisory.

We've had mail delivery, but I haven't gone out for it since Saturday. I do plan on getting it tomorrow though; the worst of the cold will be past by then.

Glad that this wasn't you in the picture. Praying for your entire area, and our Nation. It's crazy how the weather is effecting so many of us. Even those in "warm" areas are dealing with their own weather issues, like Lack of rainfall. Oh well.... God is in charge.

    Be blessed my friend.

Oh gee what a mess you have in your place, no mail also that is bad weather when the mail man can not get through. We had a lot of snow, then rain cleared it all out then the freezing pelting ice arrived, now that is gone, we have below zero at our place & awful windy which makes it seem colder!!
Stay warm & be careful on the shoveling good exercise, but don't over do it

Wow, that's just crazy! God bless you that you are all safe and sound. And to think we NYers (in the city) go crazy with just a foot of snow, really droves flocking to the grocery stores.

Hope you have a blessed week!
