Why do I want to eat something after my meal is finished?

One of my challenges lately is to stop eating after a meal. I'm not talking about a snack a few hours later--I'm talking about right after. Why?? Well maybe in part because I'm not eating dessert, but it's more likely because I'm just used to eating all the time, without limits. So what to do? I really been struggling with this and tonight, I decided to have a cup of tea. Cinnamon spice with a little milk. Delicious! So wonderful-- I'm going out tomorrow and splurge on lots of flavored teas.
I feel like a little lightbulb went off in my head---substitute new healthy choices that are really satisfying in place of old destructive behaviors. I want to remember this feeling so I can do it again and again. After a two month backslide, I'm trying to focus on the present. And right now, I'm happy with my revelation.
