Add another log to the fire.

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

I've always done my best work at the last minute. Always have and probably always will. Every day I get on SparkPeople and look at my goals ( the "logs" that fuel my fire). Be a good role model for my kids, and look good at my wedding.

The third one is the scariest, the one I should pay the closest attention to, but it's not tangible. I can't see it. I can't feel it. I want to ward off health issues (inherited or not).
Enter my doctor. She just threw the largest log on the fire by far.

My back and knee x-rays came back that there is disc degeneration. The ones involved trigger the left knee and calf (ahhhh... that explained a lot). Bring on physical therapy. Yay (insert sarcasm because I do NOT like being told what to do). The only good thing about this is the exercise equipment that I will have access to that may get me motivated to continue when I get home (or will make me sore as heck, who knows lol).

She said that my weight is a contributing factor. Sixty pounds is a LOT of pressure down there. If I don't get it off, it's only going to get worse. Which means more pain. I usually have a high tolerance but when I try to move at times and get a shooting pain that makes me suck in my breath... well, there's a fine line there.

So, the plan is losing weight, p.t. and my chiropractor to get this fixed to make me better. Not at my leisure. Not when the time is right...a pound here... two there... I know it's not going to happen overnight. But, I have to step it up.
IT HAS TO HAPPEN NOW!!

My fire is officially fanned...

She is right about the weight. I can't believe how much better I feel since losing 60lbs. My legs don't hurt, my back doesn't hurt and I just overall feel better. I will be pulling for you.
