Who Owns your Body?

Thursday, February 20, 2014

This article was an eye-opener. Although it pointed out some of the fallacies in the way we view our bodies, it did not point out the TRUTHS about our body: who owns it,how we should view it; or our responsibilities in caring for it...because I love the God who created my body, I have some ideas about where the article was going....I just wish the article had discussed that in greater depth....Here is the Link....

Tell me your thoughts on this article....Do you agree with it? If not, then what do you think---where do you differ?

Good stuff. I really liked following the links to the longer scripture passages.

I do a daily reading from a book called "Jesus Today" that helps point me toward seeking God, not getting focused on worries, trying to control everything, trivialities.

The message about beauty all around us are so distorted and unattainable. And the sexualized messages aimed at and clothing marketed to young girls, yikes! Did you see the video on SP start page today: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource
ideo=43 ? "What happens when ordinary women turn into cover models" Pretty interesting, their reactions. "Be careful what you wish for."

When I hear of people spending thousands on plastic surgery (and I don't mean reconstructive or necessary for quality of life) all I can think of is that for every $1000, if it were donated to Smile Train instead, 4 kids with cleft palettes could have had life-changing surgeries affecting their eating and speech, as well as looks.

Nowadays I ask God for knowledge of His will for me and the power to carry it out.

Some truths there for sure. I believe in number 4 your body is yours. Its up to us to look after it properly, no one else can do it for us. We are its own responsibility. A lot of the others I have read in Spark articles, how these are poisonous attitudes to have.. I have never gone for any cosmetic things. I have never worn make up and will not color my hair, nails or anything else lol. I know most models and famous people are heavily made up or photoshopped and that those are unrealistic and unnecessary enhancements..
Here is to looking after and honoring the body we were born with..

OUCH, but thank you. A necessary reminder I really needed!
#'s 2 and 5 just made my jaw drop. I have allowed society and my own insecurities to justify giving away the ownership of my own body. That is so wrong,
And it comes off as if I doubt God too by doing that (believing that I have to change my appearance)
    Thank you my dear!
