My Art Space....is rather scattered.

Monday, March 03, 2014

I live in a small house and all the area is in use, so no place to designate as my art room. Therefore, I have my supplies scattered all about the house in storage containers, clear boxes etc. In the living room is my work table, a small table that is clutter all the time. LOL
Here are a few of my scattered storage boxes, they are jumbled as I was working on my art journal this afternoon.

So those that have a real art room, I am just a hair jealous. When anyone is coming over, I have to put everything up to make the house presentable. I have found having my items in clear container helps me locating my supplies better. I also separated my stamps in to categories and stored them in the clear container. But, I am in love with mixed media and artist trading cards (ATC) so I must create. I have been doing ATC for a year now and they are so much fun. I have only just begun making art journal pages. I lost my husband last October to cancer and I have been a bit lost myself. We were married for 42 years. I began watching YouTube videos on how to do art journal pages. Aaron of Imperfectimpressions is my favorite and he gave me the courage to try making a page. I was hooked. It did fill my time and kept my mind occupied.

Here are a few of my pages. I am still learning and goodness it is fun.

Beautiful. I recently found and then lost a wonderful site that has stencils of faces and people that we can use in our art journals. I am on a mission to "refind" them!

I live in a tiny tiny apartment and I believe all my dozens, maybe a hundred tubes of acrylic paint that are probably dry by now but if they aren't maybe I should do like you and put them in a clear plastic bin so they'll be out where I'm inspired and reminded to use them. Kudos on your superior organizational skills and AMAZING talent!

Beautiful stuff Jan, I love doing stamping with colored inks and using stickers in my journals. I am so glad you have found this outlet and that it is something you love. I look forward to seeing more. Just amazing.

You are so talented, Jan! You beautiful soul really shines through. I'm sorry you don't have an art room, and I understand, as someone who lives in tiny spaces herself. Keep at it because talent like yours should be expressed!

Oh, Jan, your last photo just takes my breath AWAY!! You are sooo talented and I am sooo thankful you are using it!! I hope to learn mixed media too. I just love all the different 'things' one can put on a page or in a book that 'speaks' to them personally. Thank you for the clear box idea!! I just hate having to open one drawer after the next and peer inside to find that bit of ribbon or cute button, etc. I am really looking forward to our art classes together!! emoticon

Your pages are so beautiful! I am rather hopeless with visual arts, so I am terribly impressed with those with the talent for it, and you surely have it. I hear you on having supplies all over the place-I'm like that with books!

I love your work, Jan! And before I moved two years ago, I had my stuff scattered too. Yes, those clear plastic bins are great for storing supplies and seeing all our wonderful *stuff*!

How cool, Jan. I have wished often that I had my mother's and my daughter's creative talent. But alas, I think it skipped me. 😕

    Your creations are beautiful. 😃

Jan, I just love your storage ideas, very clever indeed. What did we ever do before clear storage bins. Polymer's are just a fantastic MuGgle invention! LOL!

For many years I also had supplies scattered throughout the house in many different rooms. Although it wasn't ideal, at least there was space to create! The arts can bring healing in so many ways; wonderful that you have found a creative outlet that you enjoy.

Your mixed media pages are beautiful! Isn't it amazing what we can do if we are willing to step out of our comfort zones even a little bit!

Thank you for sharing the information about Imperfectimpressions on youtube. Sounds like a wonderful link! I hope to check it out!

Looks interesting. I do needlework, mostly counted cross stitch, and my supplies spread all over the house.
