Stepped on the Scale for the First Time...

Sunday, March 09, 2014

Well, I'm definitely worse off than I thought I was. i know that I have lost more than five pounds in the past seven weeks because I can see it in my clothes, my body, and even my face. I don't know for sure how much I might have lost because all I know is that, my guestimate starting weight of 170 must have been way off. Yesterday, I stepped on the scale for the first time and saw a 165. While I'm certainly frustrated that this is where I am, it gives me a realistic vision for where I am and where I need to be.

I will try not to rely too intensely on the numbers and just keep doing what I am doing because I definitely feel better. If my weight plateaus over the next couple of weeks, I will know I need to change something. Considering yesterday I had my first serious cheat day (it was bad... all day. A friend from Chicago was visiting and we decided to take an eating/drinking tour of Boston basically), I will not step on the scale again until Friday. Today, I've been back on track and eating really healthy, which is sometimes difficult after a cheat day like that so I am proud.

At least now I know for sure that I have twenty pounds to lose from here and hopefully I can do that by my original goal date of May 29 (graduation).

It's so good that you know to rely on non-scale victories to measure your success. You will be at goal before you know it.
