Beginning my Gratitude Journal

Friday, March 14, 2014

I am creating a gratitude journal, and will log three things I am grateful for each day. I will decorate it, post pictures in it and anything that will show I am grateful.

I believe it is especially necessary to do this after losing my hubby Larry last October. We had 42 years together and I would have liked another 42. Alas that won't happen, but I am still blessed. I need to remind myself I am blessed at this time to not dwell on my loss of my soul mate.

These are the photos of my creation.

Yes that is "Gone With the Wind". The poor old book was is such bad shape the pages literately fell out of it. I first reenforced the spine as the original had crumled, then gessoed it.
Then found paper that made me happy to look at. This is the end result.

There may be more embellishments along the way, but so far it makes me happy.

This is so special that it is based with such a poignant book that is the story of overcoming struggle. I had no intention of taking the gratitude course until I clicked on your blog and read your inspiring story and saw your masterful project. I dragged out my scrapbook supplies and will get to work on the project when I am fully recovered from the minor illness that's had a hold on me this past week. My teams, House, and my dear class need me well and perhaps counting my blessings will hasten the healing process. emoticon emoticon

This is just beautiful! I do hope the gratitude class is helping to comfort you. It really is magical how being grateful and expressing that gratitude can help to turn our thoughts around, if we're in a negative place. I can't wait to see what happens over the course of the term!

Jan, you are sooo gifted!! I love the colors you chose. Is that pink along the back of the 'seams' tape or seam binding? And your cross sparkling in the center of your flower - did you make your flower? It's very lovely. Our gratitude challenge is only for three things per week but if you want to 'do' three things per day, I am sure we could all find three things per day to be thankful for. I never thought to decorate with 'things' that show my gratefulness but I will try to 'do' that too. I know only the purest gold is used to hold your broken pieces together, my friend. emoticon Annie
