Grab a dance partner - being human (or even "real) is not required

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

After getting up and getting my day started, I decided to get my work-out going. I turned up the radio (actually - the TV - I run Pandora through my TV) and put on the Bob Seger station.

I am in the last week of a March Fitness Challenge that I am leading here on SP. For this last week, I sent out a request to the participants that, this week, they take a few moments before each workout, and imagine gathering all of their fellow participants together to workout with them.

In light of this request, I sat down to spend a moment to "gather" up all of the Fitness Marchers so we could work out together. It's really kind of funny, because I don't know what many of them look like -- so my imagination got a workout along with my body - ha ha ha.

I went through the WHOLE ROSTER of folks in our challenge. Some popped up immediately and I could visualize them chatting with each other in clusters, others I had to knock on their mental doors to get them to come out and play (can you just see it???). In the end, we were all gathered in my family room, with Gracie-Lou (my yellow lab) as our mascot right in the middle of it. Amazingly, they all brought their own resistence bands and weights and things.......... of course, since this was all happening in my imagination, it only makes sense that they would all come fully equipped - lol.

It is a long story, but Red seems to have evolved into our team's signature color. In my imagination, I could see each of them wearing something red, and some of the red bangles they were sporting -- WOW!!!! How impressive!!!! One was decked out from head to toe in this amazing matching red outfit -- Big red sunglasses, a red one piece with red yoga pants, and even red tennies!!!; one was wearing a grey sweatshirt with a red goat on it (which has something to do with her screen name); another was wearing red and black flannel over jeans. Anyway, those are the ones I remember right off the top of my head......

And, I have to tell you all, did we SWEAT!!!! Whew!!!! Once the workout was completed, I was SO energized, I actually started dancing around the house to Hotel California and Feebird! And Gracie-Lou (our beloved mascot) thought that was the COOLEST thing ever!!! Next thing I know, she is dancing with me!!!! Hopping up and down a little, then rolling onto her back and twisting away with pure abandonment.... running in circles.........it was ADORABLE!!

So, my invitation for all of you today is this -- grab a dance partner, it doesn't matter who or even what they are, and spend a few minutes dancing with pure abandon!!! It is incredible what it does for the soul :)

We like pandora too, sometimes we stream it through our tv while cooking dinner. Nice visualizing. I thought of you the other day while on the treadmill. There is a window that looks out to the pool, and some ladies were in there doing what I think was water aerobics, and they were all wearing red sun visors. You would have fit in Perfectly! So I guess I did do what you asked and visualized you working out with me....sort of! ;-)

Wonder whether the scene could be real.
Hmm Yeahh that would be wonderful.
Sometimes I feel a lot younger thant others my own age - other times I am the lazy one wondering where the others got their energy
