Busy times....

Sunday, April 06, 2014

The last week or so have been good for me. The weather is finally showing some spring which does so much to lift my spirits. I've been trying to take the dog out for a walk in the afternoon in addition to whatever my scheduled exercise is. It just feels so glorious to be out in the sunshine and moving my body. I must admit that March wreaked havoc on my exercise program. I did fairly well (not perfect, by any stretch) with my food but I had more days not exercising than exercising. Going through all the health issues is my excuse.
Since I'm trying to break my scale addiction, I only weigh and measure myself once a month. Well, that was yesterday. Measurements held steady but I gained 3 pounds. Not happy but I need to do better with my exercise!! Once a month is a pretty good plan for me---that way, I'm only depressed one day of the month instead of all of them! LOL
Trying to get some extras done around here. (Never mind a basic cleaning would help!) I cleaned out some of my old teaching stuff. I'm donating all of my big books to my grandson's preschool. I'm hoping to donate some other teaching stuff to a wonderful preschool that serves mostly underprivileged kids. Not even close to having that all cleaned out. WHEW!
Did basics today and hope to change out winter/summer clothes tomorrow. I am tired of looking at sweaters (although I'll probably still need them for awhile).
Love the sunshine and warmer weather!!!! emoticon

Well - you are wise to scale back ( emoticon ) on using your scale.

I am really amazed at how MUCH exercise is needed to lose and maintain weight. The successful folk seem to all be working out at about 200 or more calories EVERY DAY on top of their normal daily activities. Have you an exercise monitor? A fitbit or something like that? I wear one (a weight watcher one since I'm also a WW member). i find that it's of tremendous value to get me up and moving to earn those points. LOL - on the rare days I forget to put it on I feel naked!!!

Steps, calories, whatever you want to count, there's a monitor for it and wearing mine every day also helps me remember "MOVE"

Last month my goal was to get up from my desk every hour I'm at work and move. not exercise, just move. stretch, walk around, go chat with someone - just move. I couldn't believe how 5-10 little minutes not only added up to 40 minutes MORE exercise a day - but also whittled down those pesky 3 lbs.

    Hope your day is beautiful.

Spring weather is wonderful isn't it? It's like " okay, life is good, I can do this" weather. I can't say my energy matches how awesome the weather is so I'm not getting tons done but you are inspiring me to do at least something!

For you...I'll spark from Paris (actually my dh is wicked jet lagged and I'm not so here I am...been out for a few walks without him but can't go too far...got 14 k steps in so far).
Good job climbing out of the depths of March!
Any way you can fund a spring cleaning?
What an awesome non-food reward and you'll have more time to sort/organize/exercise!
I intend to hire someone when I get home...even once a month or so.

I'm still waiting for that spring perk up to hit, but I can feel it coming!!
I'm getting the granddaughter next weekend, so definitely hoping we can get into the playground at the state park. The main lot is plowed because it crosses a snow mobile trail, and it looks like the road to the beach/playground is walkable, so another week of nice weather might just make it doable.

Hooray Beth! Great weather, breaking the scale addiction, keeping within eating plan, walking the dog, and cleaning out. This is all great stuff! Hooray for spring for you. My poor umbrellas never saw the light of day. They are sad, lonely, and dry. Ahhhhhh we always want what someone else has. Ha Ha.
Enjoy spring. I Love, Love, Love your background scenery!!!

Hey! Gaining three pounds while all your other measures stay the same means this: you have more muscle! You're on the right track, woo-hoo!, Keep it up!

And good job, good heart, for donating your books to the school! emoticon

Glad you're getting out and enjoying the weather. Lucy the Dog and I took a jog up the Big Hill today for the first time this year. It was glorious (and damned near killed us.)

Yay for good weather and getting outside! Glad for you! Still wet and cool here but April is always that way.

I'm proud of you for only weighing once a month! Thats a good habit and keeps you from obsessing and making yourself miserable!

The weather here has really perked me up too. Although I am far from fit at least my mind now is willing even though the flesh is still weak. I always think I'm going to bound out of here like a gazelle and in no time flat my butt is dragging.

I'm trying to get more done too. Working on the back porch right now. Anything I do will help. LOL.

I just came from outside. Its been a wonderful weekend. But rain comes tomorrow! I want to try to see the Cherry Blossoms before they are gone.

I have done some decluttering too. I need to give away some clothes and books. A work in progress!

Lets hope spring stays for awhile before we complain about heat!

Being outdoors is a pleasure today, and maybe from here on out for a few months of spring & summer. Wonderful to get out there and just breathe it all in - with no fear of frostbite.

Once a month - have never tried that. Hope it works for you. You must be a woman of great control to step away from the scale for a whole month!
