First day - Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Grain Free.... at least not TASTE-free!

Today is my first day of following my doctor's plan of being gluten free, dairy free and grain free. I am trying this for 2-3 weeks to see if my metabolism will start. According to my Heart Rate Variability test, I have almost a non-existent recovery metabolism. That means that the time between heartbeats is very low. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He

After I've been "free" for 2-3 weeks, she is going to start adding some things back in to my diet to see how my body responds, similar to introducing foods to a newborn - you try one (and only) one thing new for a few days, see what the response is, then add other items. If the reaction is bad, you cut it out and start something else.

I also will be going in to her office once a week for an accupressure (and part massage) treatment, also in an effort to kick-start my adrenal and thyroid to act the way they should. My first treatment was last Friday. It was interesting... not painful at all, but I did feel some "pressure" at some of the points she was focusing on.

The really tough part for me is that she does NOT want me to get my heart rate elevated with exercise. Exercise stimulates cortisol, and that's what I'm trying to avoid!

    I too am a firm believer in acupuncture. It helped me get through about 5 years of severe degenerative arthritis pain as well as some relief from fibromyalgia. I think you'll feel the difference as you get into it.

    I am a firm believer in acupressure, acupuncture and massage! What kind of doctor are you seeing? This sounds interesting. Are you allowed to do yoga? Yoga will count toward your air miles and I did 62 minutes yesterday and burned 207 calories. My heart rate was never up! Good luck and do keep us posted!

    I look forward to hearing about the results of your new plan! So I guess you'll need to take it easy on exercise and go for distance rather than aerobic effect?

    Good luck with everything! If you need recipe ideas, I have tons of Paleo stuffed Pinned on Pinterest (www.pinterest.com/thechickenscoop/ - I have an "Eats - Paleo" board and a "Whole30" board). Maybe you can take walks and lift weights for exercise?
