Feeding time...

Wednesday, May 07, 2014

Chickadees love the sunflower seeds.

Downey Woodpeckers enjoy suet.

Golden Finches prefer Niger Seeds.

Hummingbirds at the sugar-water feeder. They love tubular flowers too.

That's just a few of the visitors in my garden emoticon

love the pics! glad you reminded me--hummer feeder needs to go out today. I saw my first one yesterday. lots of warblers singing right now--I am hoping we can get our big front yard fountain going in the next couple days--a lot of years it attracts the scarlet tanagers!

So beautiful!!! I love birds too!! Hubby won't let me put up feeders, because he doesn't want to clean poo from the pool. It already drives him nuts that the Grackle cleans her nests in our pool!! emoticon

Oh my!! Did you take all of those wonderful photographs?? That's awesome!!

My parents used to have a 60 acre farm. On the front lawn there was a huge fir tree, and there was a screened in wraparound porch around the house. My Mom would hang 6 hummingbird feeders all around the porch for the birds to feed from. The hummingbirds would nest in the fir tree, then swoop down to a feeder. They became quite terratorial, chittering away at any other bird who they thought was trying to get to their feeder. You had to be careful not to wear floral hats or shirts out in the fields too or you'd get buzzed by a hummer!!

So beautiful! Fascinating that they all like different types of food. Each is so unique. I love bird watching too.

I love wild birds. We put hanging flower baskets on our front porch. A few years ago, as my mother and I were sitting out there quietly, a humming bird flew to one of them and began feeding. It was an incredible sight!
