92# lost in three months......

Sunday, May 25, 2014

I had my regular visit with my endocrinologist February 21st. Well you know that I had another visit this past Friday, May 23rd. To get the surgery, my A1C has to be under 7.0 , if memory serves me correctly, my A1C in February was 8.6. I lowered my number down to 7.6 this past Friday. That was great news but there is some even better news around the corner.

My appointment was actually with a NP that I had never seen before, but he was in a tizzy. He noticed my weight on the chart that the MA, (medical assistant) had written down and he cornered his and asked if he weighed me or if he just wrote down the weight the “patient told him”. Well, I was actually ON the scale so he wrote THAT WEIGHT down. The NP didn’t believe it. Drum roll please…………………
In the past three months, I’ve been able to lose a whopping 9.2 pounds, no, I’m joking, remove the decimal point, 92 pounds. From 442 down to 350. I’m jumping for joy and knew a lot of my success was from your visit.
And this was all done without ANY of my insulin. 7.6 A1C without insulin and only pills and diet changes. The insulin story is basically because my insurance priced it out of reach. I had the nearly $500 per month for my part of the cost, just didn’t see me spending that kind of money to buy it, so thanks to the insurance company for forcing my hand after being a diabetes patient for 16 years.

We went and did a little clothes shopping this Saturday and bought two pairs of slacks. Last pants purchased in July ’13 for Sherri’s dad’s funeral was waist size 60. I had a couple pair of 56’s that I’ve been wearing but the new pants are size 52 and I don’t even HAVE to unbutton them to take them off.

To answer any questions of How did I do it, I report that I subscribed to to diet books:

The Virgin Diet
and the most recent book from Dr. Travis Stork, from the TV show the Doctors.

Good luck with YOUR journey

Not so big anymore Tony

I enjoyed reading this all over again! I hope you are doing better than me right now - but at least my health is #1 now and not the weight.

I'm not really found of insurance companies telling us what we can or cannot do, but I have already digressed.
Sometimes adversity can be a blessing in disguise. You have done that and turned it into something amazing. It is all in your control.
