First appointment was yesterday with weight loss surgery DR

Wednesday, July 30, 2014

I went to the appointment yesterday. I met with the Dr and the dietician. I'm learning a lot from the process. I have started a more healthy diet and better eating habits. The Dr thinks gastric sleeve would be better then gastric bypass. Less invasive and less time on the OR table would be better for my heart. He thinks weight loss would improve my heart, sleep apnea, and joint pain. He wants me to ask my cardiologist for clearance for surgery. I'm going to ask him at my regular appt next week. I have weaned my diet pop habit to one glass a day. The dietician is happy with that for now. Any advice on dealing with caffeine withdrawal headaches would be appreciated!

How did your appointment with your cardiologist go? I am looking forward to hearing more about the whole process. As for caffeine... I don't drink coffee and only a can of Diet Coke once in a while, so I am afraid I can't help. Maybe try to have a bit of coffee to replace the soda then slowly reduce it? That's all I can think about.

Do you read the sparkguy's blog? He had to quit coffee and he was talking about migraines... He may have had some suggestions. I don't have any. SO sorry.

I had to quit caffine cold turkey. try weaning yourself using decaf and then taking in less and less each day until you are off it

When I went off most caffeine I bought 1/2 decaf. coffee for awhile and then went to decaf, and I did not experience head aches this time when I went off caffeine. Folgers, Maxwell and the store brand all have 1/2 Decaf.
