How to use Movie maker to make a movie

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I teach this to my kids. If you have Windows 7, it should have windows live movie maker. First, take pictures that are digital. and have them on a flash drive. Open up Windows Movie maker and then click on Title that is on the tool bar on the top. Once you have done that, then click on photos, and it will open up in the pictures area of your computer. If you have them on a flash drive, go to computer and then find the flash drive and open it. Your pictures will be there. Just click on the one that you want and it will automatically go on the movie. Continue to do this until you have all of the pictures on the movie. Then click on add music. The music should be in Windows media player format. (If you have a mac, the movie won't be able to be played on it, unless you can figure out how to change it to a mac when you finish the movie. I haven't been able to.) The next thing that you do is add the music that you want. You can rip the song from a CD on to your movie maker. Again all of this needs to be done in Windows media player formatting. Once you have done that, click on animation and you can click on each picture and put a transition on it. Just play with it, you'll be surprised how cool some of them are, and my student went to some transitions and did some pretty awesome ones. Once you have it the way you want it. You need to go to the tool bar and all the way to the right it says, sign in. Next to it, it says save movie. Click on the arrow next to it, and scroll down to the format that you want to save it in. I usually just save it for the computer. Make sure that you click on videos on the right when it brings up the box where you are saving it, it makes it easier to find. After it goes through the process of saving it, then you can go into documents, click on videos and vua la(sp) there it is. I know that one of the kids told me that there is a program Ivideo that is on the iPad that is similar. Anyway, someone asked me how to do this, so I thought I would let you know. It is great to make movies of your grandkids, kids, etc. It's pretty easy. I like it better than powerpoint. Of course it serves a different purpose. If you have any questions or have ideas, just comment on the blog. Thanks
