Sore Feet

Thursday, September 25, 2014

Well, my foot felt better last night during my run. I've been running since this spring and haven't had any pains until last night! Suddenly my arches hurt and then I had dang shin splints. What the heck!

Both went away after 2 miles thankfully, but I REALLY need to do some ST and probably better stretching.

However, after my run my feel were really sore. Not in a worrisome way, but the way your feet get tired after walking all day. I iced them last night, but they're still a little sore this morning. So, being the person that I am.. I did some research.

I found that 1. I'm not alone ( YEAH!) and for the second time, this morning I found my answer in a very helpful article in Runner's World. So, here's the article for me and anyone else suffering. www.runnersworld.com/run

emoticon So sorry for your sore feet. I hope you find what to do to get over it and keep it from happening again.
Kudos for you though for your exercising. Good job!

aieee ... shin splints hurt! I used to always get them when I ran even a little. But since actually "taking up" running this past year I have not had an issue with it. Weird!

But it may have something to do with the fact that prior I was working on core and even lots of leg exercises with I think help build some muscles in that area? (I don't think there is a lot of muscle available to build up there ... but what you can do might help I think.)

I've also heard that getting enough calcium helps too.

And thanks for the article link too. Do you think your foot is sore then due to distance and swelling in your shoe? Or to plantar? (By the way, a link in the article about the standing on one leg exercise looks like something I will start to do ... it looks good for balance and making your hips work better.)

I hope your feet are feeling better and you find ways to avoid having them hurt. I read a lot of runners world 'stuff' too.

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I am still on a 'high' from the weekend. Now I am trying to decide whether or not to go out for a half marathon to celebrate my 70th birthday in 2015. It has been in the back of my mind all along but I wanted to be sure I could do 10K first. emoticon I am NOT thinking that I will someday try a marathon.

    Take care of those feet.
