Tough Mudder (pictures)

Friday, October 03, 2014

I did it! The tough mudder! 11 miles, 20+ obstacles, a ton of mud. And I'm still in one piece, LOL!

Me and my partners at the beginning (still clean)

This is at the warmup. The fellow leading it (Kyle, AKA Coach) was hilarious and so much fun (bootie shorts).

From here we went to the start line. See the wall behind us? We had to climb that before we started the race...to get to the start line

This is Sean Corvelle. He is such an amazing speaker. He does the voice for tons of motivational videos and he was just as inspirational before our run. Everyone on one knee listening to everything he said:

I didn't get a ton of pictures as we just had a go-pro with us, but we did get some from the course photographers:

This one was called the Arctic Enema. I call it ice cubes of doom (they keep adding ice and it's around 34F deg). I'll put a canned photo first so you can see the whole thing. You have to dunk under the board in the middle. Ours lost it's beautiful blue color by the time we got there and had a chocolate brown hue to it:

Here are the monkey bars. They go up.....they go down. Enough to make you say shucks!

The log carry didn't seem all that bad until it was on our shoulders, LOL. It was so heavy! We had to take it on a trail over roots and holes and then turn around in the woods and bring it back.

The last obstacle was the electro shock therapy. All the wires hanging down feel like an electric fence. They go off and on, so you never know if you're going to get it. I lucked out and just got one shock on my shoulder.

Lots of other obstacles too, but I don't have pics from all of them. Here is a great slideshow that takes you through the whole course. The Berlin walls were crazy! 12 feet tall! A little help from your friends gets you over :)

Click on Mt. Rainier and keep clicking the pictures to see the whole course (there aren't any arrows on the slideshow for some reason):

So much fun! I can't wait to do it again next year...along with the Survivor and Spartan races! Woo hoo! Find a mud run and try it...it's the best feeling ever (they have all levels and distances). Everyone is so friendly and will help you out too. I never would have made it over the tall walls without the help of my partners and total strangers. HOORAH!
