Worst Audition EVER!

Thursday, October 09, 2014

LOL...worst.

I auditioned for a student film yesterday. I had a script, which I memorized but I crashed and burned. Nerves got to me.

Every audition I have been to up until now has been for commercials and going in the casting director has always asked me to slate and then has told me a bit about the part that I will be playing such as the background or the emotions or type of energy they are looking for and then we do the scene or lines. This one they introduced themselves asked me to slate and then I just stood there waiting for direction...I did not wait very long but seemed like forever before I decided that they were waiting for me to start as my line was first.

So I started. I bombed. I asked to restart with my script. I panicked. It was like everything in the room was quiet and there was too much noise in my head to concentrate on the lines I needed to give. I am sure my performance was flat and they put a big X through my name/photo when I left the room.

There is no way I am getting that part unless nobody else shows up.

I was so hung up on trying to be 'off script' (memorized) that I completely lost it.

Next time I know that I don't have to be 'off script' - that will ease the panic I think.

There will most likely be no direction so if I want direction I should probably ask for it.

I panicked and need to figure out how not to panic...

Go easy on yourself, there's plenty of work out there for a beautiful girl like you. In theatre school (and this was 15 years ago so maybe things have changed but it was one of the world's best programs), we were taught never to be off-book for an audition- you're a busy actor auditioning every day, sometimes twice, remember emoticon

So sorry you're nerves got the better of you.

Hopefully you'll get some feedback from them.

As for the thing about figuring out how not to panic...hopefully your acting coach has some really good suggestions.
