Gastric sleeve surgery

I'm trying to think of the best way to tell my nurse manager and my co workers at the hospital about my surgery. My nurse manager knows I'm having surgery but she doesn't know what I'm having done. I don't really want to deal with negative reactions but I think it would be impossible to keep this a secret. I have worked at the hospital for 23 years and almost everyone knows me. The bariatric surgery department just started at Mercy and I will be the first one done there. My hospital stay will be in a different unit but on the same floor where I work. I feel good about my decision to pursue better health but I just don't know how to tell them. Some of them are my size or bigger and may think I'm not big enough. I did start out with a BMI of 40 its 38 now and I have several health problems. I have CHF-congestive heart failure, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and arthritis. I get back injections twice a year to deaden nerves in my back so I can be comfortable enough to work. I'm looking forward to this chance to be healthy. I told my family that this surgery will add years to my life and life to my years. Any advice about telling the people I work with? I'm not as worried about telling the people at my 2nd job, because they are not as important to me and what they think wont bother me as much.
