It is a New DAY!!

The New Year is breathing down our necks.....and it is a time traditionally of evaluating our year past and setting goals for the coming year. I looked back on my blog, Treasures from Darkness ( www.cynthialottvogel.blo
) at last New Year's entry and I discovered that I had met every single goal that I had set last year! I think that all of us could do the same thing if only we wouldn't forget about it in a week or two. What I did last year was to turn some of my resolves for the year into goals on my SparkStart page. So every day I was reminded of my goals and not only did I get the satisfaction of keeping my resolves, I also got Spark Points for it!
My accomplishments for 2014?
1) I read the entire Bible this year.
2) My prayer time was more regular and deliberate
3) I got my first book published (look on the blog website if you want to find out more about that)...This was something I'd worked on for four years so it was hugely exciting to make that dream a reality.
4) I memorized a number of Bible verses...
5) I have finally gotten serious about my weight and in the past two months I have lost 17 lbs. and am still going strong.
This year it is my desire to pretty much keep on going with the goals from last year only to a heightened intensity...I've redesigned some of the parameters and I also have a few brand new goals. For one thing I am making my goals measurable. For example I want to lose at least 50 pounds this coming year...and I am keeping a 10 minute per day exercise program 5 days a week (because I have RA there are some days when exercise is not possible). I'm changing the manner of my devotions...instead of reading the whole Bible again, I will be reading shorter passages and meditating and journaling on them.
Because I have Sjogren Disease also it is imperative to maintain good oral hygiene...I have to brush 3x a day ...this is another unofficial goal that Spark People has helped me with.
I am not using the Spark People food tracker and am only using the short method of tracking for my exercise...but I do journal each day to maintain motivation and to keep myself accountable.
All in all, aside from some bad health issues, it has been a great year and I'm thankful to Chris Downie for all his hard work on our behalf...CARPE DIUM!!
