What is this? A test?

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

If you've read any of my previous posts you'll know I just found a gym to get back to after a five year hiatus. NOW the weather is making it impossible to get there!!!

One of the saddest parts about it is that I'm blaming myself. Part of me is feeling like - well, you can make it to work, why can't you make it to the gym? But the roads really ARE extremely dangerous this past week. I can't tell you how many accidents I see EVERY day and some of them look quite serious.

I'm keeping up with walking half an hour each day at work but it just really doesn't seem like enough. I expect so much more from myself and I think others do as well.

It's best to be safe and not risk an accident. Had a run in with a storm sewer drain before Christmas in my Volvo. Hit the ice and then the metal storm sewer. Still don't have my car back. They almost totaled it (it's old). It's not worth it to go out in bad weather. If you have stairs at home or work, climbing the stairs is a great workout. That's what I did when I had jury duty several years back and it was below zero temps. Climbed stairs for most of the lunch break and other breaks.

Weather is a legitimate reason not to go. If there was a hurricane, nobody would expect you to go to the gym. See if you can get some workout bands, DVDs, or even dumbbells to use at home? How about calf raises or squats while brushing your teeth?
