Gimme Some Lovin'!

I was just looking through my devotions and came across what I'd written yesterday about loving myself NOW rather than AFTER I lose weight. I wrote down some concrete ways I can show myself some love. I will share a few of them here.
1) I will not talk derogatorily about my body...not even to myself.
1a)I will not THINK unkindly about myself...but wil look for reasons to mentally high five myself.
2) I will go through my lingerie drawer and take out all the ripped or stained items and replace them with some nice , well made undies.
3) I will eat food that I know will nourish me and if I eat a sweet, I will not come down hard on myself and call myself names.
4) I will put on makeup more often (I know makeup can work both ways....it can become a mask to hide behind and worn because you hate the way you look without it) For me, I know I look prettier - or at least more well kept - if I wear at least a little.
5) I will shower every day....that takes away my excuse not to exercise because I will get sweaty. It also makes my hair look prettier.
6) I will try to sleep until at least 4:00 AM because I know my body needs it.
7) I will make time daily to read
8) I will try to reawaken my creative spark
9) I will continue my practice of memorizing Scripture to keep my mind working and my soul healthy.
10) I will make every effort to notice when a smile is called for---and to oblige.

    One thing we found when we were in my classes in college is that self hatred and low self esteem is at an all time high-my class was on doing groups, so we split into two groups and my group chose the topic of self worth. It was amazing-here I was-probably the oldest and largest member of a group of 20 and 30 somethings (I was in my late 40's then) and these young women who were all beautiful, thin and "happy" were telling how awful they felt about themselves-I couldn't believe how hard we were on ourselves-Like you said -if you heard someone else say those things about someone else-you'd have to slap them up side the head-it was like that! So we tried an experiment that proved to be super helpful-we brought in a little hand held mirror and passed it around and each of us had to say something nice to ourselves while looking in the mirror-we had tears and people who really struggled, but this is one of the best experiments you can do-be kind and love yourself-for you are fearfully and wonderfully made!     This is a really good list. My personal list would include taking time to be outside, walking, take the dogs to the park, going down to the river, etc., It helps me stay more grounded and balanced. Can't just be indoors all the time.

    This is a GREAT list. 3,4, and 8 would absolutely be on my list too. I am scrambling a little trying to find another to add because your list covered much territory. I think I could add 11) Keep more distance between myself and negative thinking people.
