So, I have two girlfriends that live in my neighborhood. We are now officially all runners. Two of us did the Cobweb Chaser, on 1 January the other friend did a different 5K with her daughter in January, but this month we all ran the same 5K. We decided that we would take the rest of the year and do a monthly race together. We don't run the races together, since I'm still much slower, but I'll get there! But for now it's nice to just arrive and leave together.
I'm looking for a St. Patty's day 5K in March and then in April we'll be doing the Friends 4 Fisherhouse 5K in SA and then thee Diva run in Galvaston. They'll be doing the DIVA HM, and I'm going to stick with the 5K. I would have liked to have done a 10K, but that wasn't an option, so I'll just be sticking with shorter distances for now. Which I think will help me concentrate on my speed skills.
Despite troublesome allergies, shin splints during mile 2 and a suprise LONG incline at the end, the race went well yesterday and I'm pretty sure I PR'd. (personal record) It's still slow by 'running' standards, but it's 2 min shy of my first goal which is to run a 5K in less than 40 min.
