I really am grateful that I can say February has been the worst month of my life since the week preceding my father's death from cancer thirty-five years ago. Compared to other people's recent tribulations, mine haven't been all that bad, but I'm going to run through them anyway because it gives me a chance to vent.
I thought I had a deep vein thrombosis in my left leg and went to the hospital. That was ruled out. They thought it was a burst bakers cyst. I think it was a spider bite. I suggested that to my doctor but she didn't think a bite could be the cause. I have an appointment with an orthopedist on March 19th, but I'll probably be asymptomatic by then. My left calf swelled up to 22 inches in circumference while my right was only 16 inches. My foot turned purple and then the bruising spread up my leg. It's been three weeks and the swollen calf is down to 18 inches. The bruising is completely gone. The whole experience was very painful and my leg is still sore to touch. I had four year old antibiotics in the house and I took them for a week. I think that is what brought the problem under control and that is why I think it was caused by some kind of infectious & venomous bite.
Judith is recovering from her toe joint surgery. She still has to use a walker and a special boot to get around. I had two more teeth extracted so I'm down to 13. That was Monday and my mouth is still very sore.
We couldn't get a gas delivery because of all the snow. I had to shut down the boiler because we were down to 8% of our tank. We had no hot water for a week and the radiator pipes are plugged with ice on the south side of the house. I hope they don't burst when it thaws. The pipe already burst once in January and and the repair was expensive.
We have been hit with blizzard after blizzard and they were more than I could handle. We got plowed out three times in the past few weeks but even with the plows I had to spend tens of hours shoveling which was not easy while my leg was recovering and myback is sore from throwing the snow. Snow removal cost a total of $750.00. We planned on using our federal tax refund on other things, but the storms ate it up.
On a happier note Ben was up last weekend and Maya and Heyrling stayed til Thursday. Everyone had a lot of fun in the snow and we took Maya for another riding lesson.
Also, I just passed a fitness milestone. I've run 5000 miles tracked by my GPS watch since March 2012.
