Where have I been?

My last blog was written in January. I seemed so positive about staying on track with eating well and exercise. A lot of things happened that stressed me out and sent me heading for the fridge. I hate that I still don't have this emotional eating thing under control.

Stressful stuff~
-I moved into a new house, which lengthened my commute (I now drive 55 minutes to work). And all the stuff that goes along with that.
-My father was in the ICU for over a month, and he is still in hospital. He had complications from a surgery to fix an intestinal blockage. I was driving three hours back and forth from the hospital for a while because we didn't think he would make it.

I'm racking my brain trying to think of what else was stressing me out, but isn't that enough? It really bugs me that those two things were enough to send me into a tailspin.

But here I am... I'm back. I'm on Day 4, in hopes of keeping up my tracking and exercise for 30 days straight to create some good habits.

I'm really excited to lose the next 25 pounds and say that I have finally lost 100 pounds after chipping away at it for the past 4 1/2 years! Is this my year??? I hope so!

    I know the feeling...My husband had a stroke back in March...didn't look like he was going to make it either...but thank God, he did....

    With that being said, I've fallen off the wagon...gained about 20 pounds of the 56 I lost last year...clothes are tight, but I refuse to buy new ones...I've got to get this weight thing under control....

    But at the end, emoticon emoticon emoticon . We've just got to emoticon .

    You are emoticon . Just know I'll be praying for you... You can do this!! You've lost 100 pounds!! That's like UBER awesome!! What an inspiration!!!

    I'm thinking of you and your parents and all the stress you've been facing. School is ending, so I hope that gives you a break for the summer and more time to concentrate on YOUR health.

    Remember the flight attendant's advice: put your oxygen mask on first so you CAN help others. If you don't take care of YOUR health, you'll be less helpful for others who need you...including your adorable daughter!

    Hope things are going better and your parents are well.

    Honey these are significant things!!! Be kind to yourself, you are living life and did what your needed to just to keep going, there is no shame in that love. Most of us don't have the emotional eating thing down just yet. That's why we're here helping each other through. I know I'm not the only one happy to see your sweet face around.     Well, life threw you a double-whammy. That's is enough to throw anyone off balance. The fact that it's been in only four months is hard to deal with, but it does sound as though things are starting to smooth out for you enough that you can take a breath and say "What about me...I matter!".

    I think the fact that you've lost 75 pounds is totally awesome! If I accomplished that, I'd consider another 25 to be the icing on the cake. emoticon

    Those 2 things are totally enough! Even the one about your father is, alone, enough. I really hope he's OK now. But yes, those things are challenges that can't be ignored, nor would you want to. And that kind of thing is exactly what I'm trying to figure out myself. While the big things are coming and going, my ongoing things are also not going away any time soon (like your new long commute) so that's why I started seriously trying to learn to balance. This IS how my life is. Always. And it's got crazy stuff thrown in all the time, so I'm striving to learn what to do in these situations. But you sound like you're actually farther along that path than I am, losing 75 lb already! That kicks butt!! So maybe each day while you're still adjusting to your new commute, you try to find a place of balance rather than trying to "fix" it or control it. That's what I'm trying. Acceptance, balance, and hopefully healthy habits to support me through the crazy times. I'm still trying to figure it out, too, so wishing good progress to us both!

    MusicallyMinded, I am so happy to see you back! It sounds as if you've had plenty of stress in your life since January. Moving into a new house, no matter how happy and exciting, certainly brings a lot of stress, schedule disruptions, unexpected problems, and big jobs. Only THAT would have been enough to derail me (combined with the long commute), but then you had the added worry of your father's illness! My goodness, that's too much to deal with all at once!

    It's great that you're on Day 4! That is a very good start to your new life, and yes, you can lose those next twenty-five pounds! No doubt!

    Family health problems are enough to send us back to the comfort of emotional eating. I've had the experience recently, too. And I hate to admit it but once an emotional eater, probably always an emotional eater. But the good news is that we can put this thing under control. And the other good thing is that stressful situations don't last forever! And for the everyday ones, we can find other ways to cope, right?
    I'm sure you CAN lose those last 25 pounds. I have about 20 to lose so let's make this really OUR year! Shall we?
