Got back on the wagon and got my groove on.

I hiked miles on vacation. Lots of miles. I also had to show up my husband's siblings or at least show I could lead them to all my favorite places. Mostly I said let's go up there or over there. Steps. lots. Elevations higher than I remembered, but I did it!
Then I came back to a personal fitness trainer and still having sessions of physical therapy for my shoulder.
I've donned my armor against the food in my way. My last cardiology visit sealed the deal. A significantly blocked exterior carotid. Even though I try (sigh) to eat low-fat and I take Crestor I can't remove spending my first 20 years in a 2 pack a day 2 smoker household. I've never lit up a cigarette but that doesn't matter.

The scale shows 12 pounds down in 6 weeks.

I don't feel deprived. I've been mixing it up with fresh veggie blends and a strange attraction to flavored ketchups loaded with hot spices which seem to satisfy any cravings I've had to eat more. Tomatoes in any form seem to be my go-to comfort food.
Now I have to make my totally veggie lasagna with zucchini noodles, a hint of cheese and a lot of spiced tomatoes!

    Amazing that you never took up smoking with all the smoking around you. I so wish I could get my niece to quit. She grew up around heavy smokers so it wasn't a surprise that she started. But she just doesn't appreciate the potential harm she is doing to herself.

    emoticon on your outstanding loss!!! unfortunately I've been plateaued since legal battle commenced (Feb) - getting myself unstuck as of YESTERDAY (time's too short & precious my SparkFriends)
    It's still good to take vicarious pleasure in my friends' successes, however!

    That first 20 years, you can't re-do, but you ARE doing what you can! Good job! That's all we can expect of ourselves... to do what we can, where we are now. emoticon

    Congratulations on the weight loss!!

    If you have some plaque build up you need to chiefly avoid the processed carbs. They are the cause of heart disease, not fat. You need to keep your triglycerides down. Low fat diets are on the outs.

    I lost 11 pounds in May with a few small diet changes, no change in exercise. I'm eating fresh meat, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, seeds, nuts, and a few legumes and a little dairy.

    You are doing absolutely great. Has to feel so encouraging and rewarding!!

    I'm another person who finds pretty spicy stuff helps me be satisfied with less. Curious about that all veggie lasagne!!
