Gosh, I am in for a very hard road ahead.

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

After two years (yes, TWO years!) of tests, diet tweaks, fitness tweaks, doctors, specialists, trainers, and dietitians, everyone has come to the conclusion that I need to eat less than Spark recommends.
My bottom line... I GAIN at 1500 calories, even with being active and being way overweight. I maintain at around 1200-1250.
To lost the weight I need to lose... well, you can figure that out. And now that it has been figured out, it will be very very difficult to lose the weight AND keep it off.

I kept gaining at 1500 as well .. I dropped to 1200 .. eventually I will have to go to 1050-1100 as that will be my BMR at my goal weight ..

I have to push hard at this .. but I know it will be hard yet good in the end

I am with you on this - 1500 calories a day and I will gain weight - I lose at 900-1000 and so I had better choose wisely. It's maddening sometimes as1200 seems to be a maintenance level for me and well, some days that's just not enough. More exercise isn't possible physically right now ... maybe never. I wish you all the best.

I don't know my calorie count. I get frustrated when I try to use the trackers. I'm sure that my correct calorie count is not 1500. If I "cheat" just a little, the pounds come back. I have become more active at work. I am now a teacher's aide and walk a lot. I have a tracker and come in around 6,000 to 7,000 a day. Not quite the 10,000, but I'll take it.

Slowly but surely you will be able to do it. Just take one day at a time. I am in the same boat and if I give myself a bit of leeway with my tracking I don't loose any weight. Focus on a healhier life style -walk everywhere and stop eating the second that you feel that tiny intitial twinge that tells you "you've had enough food". When I listen to that and walk lots I loose weight. it always happens. The problem is that over time I forget to "listen". It really is a change in lifestyle and we are a work in progress. And once you get to a heathy weight (i'm not there but have been in the past) maintaining that weight and life style change is the new challenge.

But it is so so worth it just to be able to run up a flight of stairs, not worry about falling and how long it might take to get up and just generally feeling better. I find that I start to feel better once I am on the journey even only after I have lost a few pounds and am feeling more fit. I carry myself differently. I don't walk by moving from side to side and I smile more. You will too! Just think about today and not all the future "what if's". We can talk ourselves out of anything. But its never good to talk yourself out of living a healthier life. You will reap the benefits. I promise. I tell myself.. don't think so much.. just do it! It helps!!

Hang in there! I can't eat as much as Spark allows, but I've had to tweet things before. I'm getting rid of excess weight and getting healthier!

If it was easy, anyone could do it. You are special and can do whatever it is you decide needs to be done. Ditto on the little steps.

Make today the greatest day of your life

I FIND IT BETTER TO NOT LOOK TOO FAR AHEAD BUT TO LOOK FOR SMALL CHANGES IN THE SAY ONE BLOCK AHEAD. KEEP MOVING FORWARD NO MATTER AND YOU WILL SUCCEED.

Ditto the above. I cannot lose unless I am active 4 days a week and under 1200 calories. I don't feel deprived though and the more water I drink the more I don't need to fill up with food -- especially carbs. All the best to you -- you can do this!
