First two days of Summer 5% challenge

Day 1 - Journal entry from Saturday, June 27, 2015
It rained all day Saturday. After I stopped at the post office for the mail, I was drenched. I can't use an umbrella and maneuver a walker too. I had made plans to meet a friend for lunch at Bob Evans. Nice lunch, but we were both chilled through. Later I picked up some groceries at the big grocery store. The rain soaked through my raincoat. My clothes and hair were wet. I wanted to get home and get warmer clothes on but I knew I wouldn't go out again to get groceries if I didn't do it on the way home.

The back yard is a lake. Water coming in the back door again. Cleaning up is hopeless until the rain stops and the water goes down. Water coming through the cracks in the cement floor in the workshop and the garage. Sump pumps are running, at least once every minute tonight. It is unusual to be this wet this late into the season. We've had a number of storms, dumping an unusual amount of rain.

Today is the start of the 5% Summer Challenge. I am determined to reach my goal this time. I made it in the Winter challenge but fell short in the Spring challenge. The trips up north messed me up, unable to do homecooked meals at the hotel.
Reading the blogs by my fellow Tiger Monarchs teammates has motivated me. We are in this together, all trying to reach the same goal.

Day 2 - Journal entry from Sunday, June 28, 2015
Family worked cleaning up the water. Intermittent sunshine today is a welcome change from rain. Waiting for a return call from the construction people to see what can be done to stop water seeping under the patio door when the outside water level is this high. This is the second time it has happened this year.
There is nowhere for the drainage tile to take the water when the creek is full and everything is under water. Back yard is a lake. The wind was making little ripply waves on the water. Lot of water standing in the fields, damaging the crops. I am sick of worrying about water every Spring. It's not as easy as moving to somewhere with a drier climate. We've been here for generations. My life is here.

Power was off for hours again today. Thank God for the automatic generator.
Cable went on the fritz for awhile this afternoon. Came back on with only a standby type message...no programs.
Power and cable restored now.

Fighting sleep. Too tired to get up and go to bed.

Today is Day 3 of the Summer 5% challenge. The weekend has not been conducive to a perfect start, but I'm not expecting perfection...just progress! Today I am strengthening my commitment to follow the plan.

The sun is shining. Please, Lord, I could use an ordinary day.

Wowwww, you are so fortunate to have all that water. Hopefully nothing will get damaged. I almost have forgotten what it's like to have rain (storm…) here in California. ;o(
