It never ceases to amaze me how coincidental things can be. Yesterday was the Fourth of July, a day when, at least from my perspective, families relax and have fun together. But that never happens for me, even though I have 5 children, 2 step children and 7 grandchildren. My daughter, husband and 3 children are home for a couple of weeks (1250 miles from their home) but are spending most of their time with his parents at the lake. When they do come to town, they booked a hotel reservation over 30 miles from me and I received an email with their itinerary telling me that I can join them any time I want. It's a very long way for me to go every day through pretty heavy traffic.

My step son, wife, and children got together with his mother's entire family for a day at the beach. So I was feeling kind of sorry for myself last night having dinner alone with my husband wishing we could be included in someone's family!

This morning on Spark Coach were these words of wisdom: Take a minute today to collect all the negative thoughts or feelings you've been experiencing this week. In one deep exhale, let them all leave your body and mind for good. What could you accomplish without the negativity in your life?

The next thing I saw was '51 Things Happy People Do Differently'. Coincidence? I have to believe not - more like divine intervention.

So I've decided to take 5 of the 51 ideas and work on them this week. My choices are:

4) Accept that change is imminent and one of the only certainties in life.
31) Be as optimistic as possible, while still being realistic.
33) Life in the present, not dwelling too much on the past or worrying about the future.
36) Don't hold grudges, but instead choose to forgive.
39) Tell others how they feel and are not afraid to express their emotions.

Now I'm going to put on my workout clothes and get myself on the treadmill (cardiovascular activity is among the best releasers of dopamine, the "happy hormone"!

    I copied the fifty points and read the first 10 slowly. Yes, I need to apply them now. I want to be happy as soon as possible. I think the fake it (smile) until you feel happy is one of the best. We must look and act the part to really feel better. GOOD LUCK!
