I spoke to the scheduling nurse today and the surgery to stabilize my "jones fracture" of my right foot is scheduled for next Friday, August 7th. It should be noted that I have always had a healthy dislike for all doctors - not that they're bad people, I just would rather not have to ever visit them. And other than having 5 children (where you actually get to take home a very special gift), I've only had one very minor surgery on my wrist - but I hated it! The no food and drink, the fussing, the anesthesia which always makes me ill, and then the recovery time.
But I am grateful that I was diagnosed before I did any real and irreversible damage to my foot. I really liked the doctor who will be doing the surgery. And they were able to schedule me pretty quickly which means I may even be able to walk again BEFORE it snows. I have my little dog Daisy by my side every minute of the day and I have plenty of television to watch and knitting to do. So I'm going to try really hard to cast away my fear and look at this as a healing adventure!
