When I started this challenge, I was looking forward to it, but I didn't think I would lose any weight. I was stuck in the mindset that my Mom could never lose the weight, so neither could I. Other people could lose weight, I could not. That was what was written on my heart and in my mind.
Then my gallbladder had to be taken out. And my husband two days later had to have oral surgery. Since he was not going to be able to eat much he didn't want to cook (he's the chef of the house) so it was up to me to cook. I wanted to cook healthy foods. I remembered a friend's post on FB about zoodles. So I bought a spiralizer, and it changed the way I eat and the way I think. Between my gallbladder and the spiralizer and the challenges on the team, I lost 3 pounds. Me. I did that (with God's help, of course). And it opened my eyes..
I realized that it is possible for me to lose weight. If I really try, I can do this. I kept up with the challenges and my new way of eating and I lost two more pound.
And with each (well, most) new challenge came another epiphany . I wasn't getting enough protein with my new way of eating, so I found ways to sneak in protein. I found I was way overdoing it on salt in my asian style dishes because of soy sauce. My favorite challenge was to double my cardio on Saturday, which led me to discover that I was holding myself back on my workouts and I really could do more. One challenge got me tracking everything I eat, which I do on a daily basis now.
I didn't keep up with my daily tracking very well on the forum, but I kept it in my head.
Overall I had a wonderful time getting to know the people on the challenge, discovered that the challenge kept me motivated, especially the weigh-ins! I've lost a total of 9 pounds as of today! I'm definitely going to be on the team next year, and it inspired me to join a Fall challenge team. I'm also excited to say there will be more challenges and I can't wait to be a part of them all! The accountability really keeps me motivated too.
I realize that some of this may be a little incoherent, I'm really tired right now, but hopefully you get the gist of what I'm saying. This challenge changed me, changed the way I think about me, about weight loss and exercise, and about how I eat. Thank you WILDFLOWERR_ for the awesome challenge, the wonderful support and opening my eyes to see that I can do this too!
