HOT!!!! Tough runs, massage

Oh my holy heck it's hot!! HOT!!! It's 106 degrees today. It never went below 74 degrees last night. So my 5am run was at 74 degrees. That's not bad, I'm not complaining about that, but it's usually in the upper 50s or 60s or something.

Clog has been cleared. It was 11 feet down the pipes. I watched the plumber and learned how to properly snake a deep clog. I like learning stuff like that so that I'm more self-sufficient. I can add it to my irrigation and getting rid of ants knowledge.

I ran this morning very slowly. One of my running partners (and friend) has been over training and doing A LOT to her body. She was being really hard on herself for being slow and needing to walk a lot. I emphasized that she needs rest. I should have taken today as a rest day myself. My knees weren't too happy with me today.

Then I went home and finally convinced my son to join his school's running club before school. He did it at his elementary school but now he's in a different school, and middle school at that. He has Aspergers and has a serious aversion to change. So I talked him into going by telling him I'd run with him if he wanted me to. He did. So I did.

Mistake.

My tendons were a little sore at the end of my first run, but they felt better afterward. Half way through the run with my son they were very sore. And it was an out and back route, so I couldn't just stop. That made it worse. So when I got home I iced them, rolled them out with The Stick, and stretched. Then the plumber came and fixed that problem and then I went for a massage.

At the massage I discovered my upper legs (quads, hamstrings, and IT band) are incredibly tight and screwed up too. She spent 45 mins of a 60 min massage on those three areas. Excruciating! So I wound up buying a membership to the massage place (half price since my husband already has a membership) and I'll be going a lot more often. I long for the days when massages felt good and relaxing. Now they hurt like hell and it's my own fault for letting my legs get that screwed up in the first place.

I have to run tomorrow since I'm leading that Couch to 5K group, but luckily it's just 30 seconds of running with 90 seconds of walking for 30 mins. I can do that. I also think I may have screwed up my tendons doing one or both of two things... the jumping yesterday and/or wearing brand new achilles supports which put pressure on them. That may have been a mistake. I'm going to ditch those tomorrow and see how it goes.
