A Day In My Life

We got up at 6:00 to have breakfast and then head to the garden. My husband cooks breakfast and I do dinner. We usually have a lite lunch of what we can find. This morning was sausage and eggs with fresh tomato. Good amount of protein to get the day started and fuel the old body for lots of hard work.

I did not walk this morning because I was afraid I would not have the energy to do all the work the day holds. I started in the garden at 7:00 by pulling the tops of the sweet potatoes off. That was a big and strenuous job. It took about an hour of lots of pulling, lifting, bending and good cardio. Once that was done the shovel went to work and then the picking up of the potatoes in crates and carrying them to the wagon. Good strength training exercise for sure this morning. After the potatoes were done then the fence panels had to be taken down that were used for staking the tomatoes. AGAIN, pulling, lifting, and dragging for a few hundred feet to lift and put on the hooks until next year. Lots of exercise.

We took a break for lunch which for me was pulled pork, avocado, and salsa with some watermelon for dessert. I napped for about 30 minutes and then back to garden to plow and do some other things. After than I had to water and feed 75 chickens and guineas. By this time my body was dragging.

I had left overs from the weekend but had gotten some green tomatoes from the garden so I was bad and fried some green tomatoes and eggplant to go with the corn, apples, slaw and pulled pork for dinner. I usually eat a big dinner which is not always good. Not the best meal for calories but I had done pretty good the rest of the day and it was all natural eating also.

By bed time my back was showing out and in lots of pain from all the over use of the day. I was afraid I might not sleep but with a heat pad and some Ibuprophen I headed to bed.
