For the month of October, the gym I belong to had a challenge titled #30DaysofNP. For a little background, my gym is not your typical gym. They only offer group fitness classes. There are no machines. There is no weight room. They offer cardio and strength classes and a pretty good variety to keep you motivated.
So back to the challenge. Basically, the idea was if you completed 30 classes in 30 days, you received a free month, a tank top or t-shirt, and got "fabulously fit". Well, as my gym is not cheap (over $100 a month - but definitely worth it!), I figured, I might as well give it a try. My big concern, however, was that I knew I was going to traveling 7 days this month (one weekend in Rochester and one long weekend in Florida). There was the real challenge.
Nevertheless, I figured I still wanted to give it a try as a free month is incredibly motivating!! I typically have "two a days", two times a week, but in figuring out my plan, I realized I needed to up my two a days to at least four to make up for going out of town. My plan came out something like this:
Sunday: Cardio Hip Hop
Monday: Super Circuit with TRX and Cardio Hip Hop
Tuesday: Rest Day
Wednesday: Either Abs & Butt Circuit or TRX & Kettlebell and Zumba
Thursday: Body Balance with TRX and Cardio Hip Hop
Saturday: Zumba and TRX
Obviously, I had some flexibility with this as there were days the times of certain classes didn't fit so I swapped or other things that came up. The most difficult challenge was that one weekend I was gone Friday - Sunday and the other Thursday - Sunday. That was 7 days worth of classes that I was missing!!! Yikes. Well needless to say, I decided that free month was worth the motivation to try my best.
So now the month is over and you have to be curious how I did..... You ready???
33 CLASSES IN 30 DAYS!!!! Hellllz yeah!!! Super proud of myself!!! Even better? I lost:
2.5 inches off my waist
1.5 inches off my hips
1.5 inches off of each thigh
But, even more? I am beyond proud of how I pushed myself even when sore to do the best that I could. I worked out in Florida even when the classes didn't count because it had become so second nature. I made it part of me and totally put myself first! It gave me a confidence that I can't even begin to explain. I even did kettlebell swings with a 16kg kettlebell (35 pounds) for the first time! I have made major gains in so many aspects that aren't measurable in pounds, but are definitely measurable in so many other ways.
