I was totally bummed at the lack of selection at the grocery store I go to. Okay, let me rephrase that: they didn't have the specific veggies I wanted, their selection is fine. They always have different funky fruits like kiwano and dragon fruit. But no heads of cauliflower or broccoli, just baggies of mixed veggies. Maybe I'll get up early and go to Kroger (Kroger is always slammed and their parking lot is dangerous it is so small) but they have a great selection of veggies. So I got frozen broccoli, but no cauliflower to roast.
I managed to burn the water I was using to steam the broccoli. So I guess it was broccoli water I burned. Either way, I thought it was funny. I burned water, lol.
Feeling very icky this morning. I don't know what it is, just a feeling of malaise. So I drank my green juice and had my Juice Plus+ and I'll probably have some vitamin C as well. I have a very uncomfortable headache as well.
Munching on mini sweet bell peppers instead of the butter cookies I want. I call that a win!
Hoping tomorrow will be better. I'm going to take an extra dose of Juice Plus and maybe some vitamin C and pray I am better tomorrow. I have to take DH to the dentist for oral surgery tomorrow. Oh boy.
Didn't do so great today on steps, or anything really but I'm trying to eat healthier and I tossed the foods that only I eat, like dressing, that are so very not good for me.
I have been doing a lot of research on diabetes and preventing diabetes and I'm going with the plate method. Basically you use only the inner part of the plate, not the rim, halve the plate and on one half you put non-starchy veggies. Then halve the empty side again and on one 1/4 put lean meats and on the other 1/4 put a healthy starch of some kind. Add a small bowl of fruit and you have a winner. I'm thinking yogurt and fresh fruit are going to be my friend. A vanilla yogurt and fresh fruit will feel like a dessert.
Unfortunately my fridge is filled to the brim at the moment. I plan on fixing that and making room for more hummus, a side of pinto beans, some fresh veggies and lots of other healthy foods. I've informed the kids that this is my way of eating now and I will not be making a second meal for them to have what they like. They will be eating what I eat. We are going to be a healthy family. Now to make it stick.
