Ups & Downs

Sunday, December 13, 2015

The past couple of weeks have been a real struggle for me in terms of waning motivation, added stress, excessive eating, etc. I could feel it coming on, and did what I could to stave off of the problems and maintain my resolve. However, things still caught up with me and I resorted to emotional eating, skipping workouts, and slacking on other healthy habits I've been developing. It was no surprise to me when my weight shot back up on the scale. I admit I've felt some defeat, but I refuse to give up. I know that I need to get back to demonstrating my commitment everyday and not just allow myself to keep stumbling along off track. Just because I screwed up in several ways for more than several days, it doesn't mean that is the new norm. Time to get back to living my new healthy lifestyle!

I'm right with you in terms of emotional eating and sometimes losing my way.

You wrote: I refuse to give up.

That's a very nice statement of determination. Persistence is one of the tools in my box, too.

Congratulations on not letting yourself continue down the path of self-destruction. The fact that you have realized that you "fell off the wagon" and got yourself right back on means you have truly learned how to handle this lifetime journey! emoticon

Well expressed! I try to see each day that I wake up as a new opportunity. On some days it is tempting to pull the covers back over my head, but I give myself a talking to and get on with a fresh day.
Chuckled at the 'new norm'. DH has a work colleague called Norman. I only get to see this guy once a year at a Christmas Carol function. This year he was looking very dapper. Not wanting to mention obvious weight loss, I said, 'You're looking very well, Norman.'
'Ah,' he said, 'You're looking at the new Norm.'
I kid you not. Loved it!

I'm so glad that you're not giving up. Like you, I'm an emotional eater. It truly does complicate things..... but we can STILL overcome, as you well know! We can do this.
