Dust Off the DVD Challenge Days 8-9

Ah, Cindy Crawford. The person whose body I was meant to have if God hadn't given me little legs.

Many, many moons ago I used to exercise along to a Cindy Crawford VHS. That VHS is lost in the annals of time but I remember she had a trainer with her called Radhu and the whole thing was filmed in glorious swirling shots of New York rooftops and Santa Monica Beach. I was there with you, Cindy; my little legs not quite making the high kicks but somehow you made me feel beautiful in my own way.

I don't know whether that original Cindy VHS made it onto DVD format but Cindy Crawford also released one called 'A New Dimension'(1999), which she made after having a baby. Now I bought this - not because I'd recently given birth, my kids were in their teens but because I had to have a raft of abdominal surgery and I felt that its graded exercise routine would get me back into moving again.

There are three routines -12; 16 and 41 mins - of increasing difficulty and the aim is do the easiest one regularly until you can build up to #2 and so on. The trainer alongside Cindy has experienced being a mum herself so the exercises are graded to cater for weakened abdominals and pelvic floor.

It must be 12 years since this DVD came off the shelf but, at the time, I used sections 1 and 2 quite often. Coming back to it, there ARE lunges which my older knees aren't keen on and I feel that you are not given sufficient time to get into the right position on the floor etc...but that could be down to me, slowing up a bit.

Visually though, the whole thing has the old Cindy magic... lovely locations; beautiful interspersed shots of her with her baby. My own children are now having children - I feel I may pass this DVD on...but not before I have a go to see if I can do the 41 minute routine first.

    If you're looking for additional exercise routines, I like going on YouTube and there's one on there called senior Fitness with Tona and it's about 45 minutes long from start to finish but there's no getting on and off the floor. Anyhow there's a lot of different ones on there and clean a bunch of my Jessica Smith to she's got good ones. But I like the one by Tona. I have a Rockin Body DVDs to this day I have not drive through all of them and someday I will be able to do them I hope. So I understand the need of wanting to do them. Good luck. You can do it it just might take time. I'm hoping to do my rock and Body by the end of this year.
