How DO I get myself into these things?
Friday, January 08, 2016
A couple of months ago I was chatting to a friend online about holidays. Holidays in Italy.
Over the course of a few conversations we narrowed it down to Rome, Venice or Florence.
Then to Venice.
Then to 'How about we do the Venice carnival?'
Then to 'What are we going to wear in Venice at the carnival?'
As you'll understand, things escalated quite quickly. It would be fair to say they've got completely out of hand.
The upshot is that I, not the world's greatest needlewoman, have bought 8.5 metres of red velvet, a metre of red organza, dark red suede shoes with Heels - I do not usually wear Heels - and a mask. This weekend I am taking the plunge where the dress pattern is concerned. Wish me luck, because I am having to enlarge it a fair bit, having enlarged myself a fair bit over the last year or so.
How do I get myself into these things? And how will I get myself into this frock? WILL I get myself into this frock? Can I lose 50 pounds in two weeks?
No I can't. The frock pattern must be enlarged, but I seriously want do the carnival properly, so red velvet will be worn.
I could always wear it as a toga, I suppose, and be a Junoesque Roman.
Anyway, I'm hoping to lose a few pounds before I go and meet the frock halfway, so to speak. So I'm sparkling away here.
