The First 6 weeks of 2016

Before New Year's Day rolled around I sat down with the calendar to figure out what I would like to do for fitness for the next 6 months. I came up with 5 phases and I have just completed Phase 1: The Biggest Loser in which I used 4 BL workout DVDs and incorporated one day of yoga and one day of walking at least 6 miles most weeks. Things didn't always go according to plan due to the kids having snow days or illnesses. As always, January and February are not the best time for me to "go on a diet" due to family birthday celebrations, and the scale reflects that. And, no, I am NOT the Biggest Loser! I lost overall about 4 pounds and 2.5 inches. Nothing to write home about, but progress none the less. The next phase, the Tae Bo/Kickboxing Phase starts today and I will also start incorporating interval running back into my walks.

Last year I got myself off Zyrtec and this month I am trying to stay off Claritin. Haven't taken any since Feb. 2nd so maybe I can stay off of it until Spring allergies hit. Don't know if it will affect my weight loss, but here's hoping :)

Many times in the past I would have quit this whole exercise/diet thing due to my negligible results, but I am determined to stick with it because even if I don't lose pounds, by overall health will improve and, so far, by blood pressure readings are much better. The heart is just like any other thing...you use it or you lose it. So, this next phase I need to buckle down more on my eating, sleeping, and water drinking habits to get better results. Hope my fellow Sparkers are having a Fabulous February and for Valentine's day, do something nice for your heart!

    This is great progress! It may not feel like it coz we have been conditioned to expect huge weight lossess. But every pound lost does add up. I say, keep up the good work!!

    You are going to have to learn sooner or later how to live life during celebrations and birthdays, and holidays, and so on. Avoiding watching your weight until the celebrations are over is not being true to yourself. Start now. Bring healthy food with you so you don't overeat with calorie-laden foods. The more experience you get, the easier it will be. What happens when Easter arrives? Are you planning to stop eating healthy then too? No more excuses. Live life the way it should be lived. Best wishes for a strong and very healthy life.
